Avenn · honest comparison
Avenn vs Reflectly
Reflectly is a guided journal with mood tracking. Avenn is a coach you hold a conversation with. Both help you make sense of your week; they do it through different mechanics. Here is what each one publishes, with the pages we checked.
Avenn is coaching support, not therapy. It does not diagnose and it is not a crisis service. If you need urgent help, see our crisis line directory.

Writing and talking do different work
A journal is a mirror. It is very good at slowing you down, catching a mood before it becomes a week, and leaving a record you can look back on. What it cannot do is push back. If your reasoning has a hole in it, the page will let you write the hole down neatly and move on.
A coach is a counterpart. Avenn asks the question you were steering around, holds you to the thing you said last time, and makes you say out loud what you will actually do next. That is uncomfortable in a way a blank page is not, which is most of the value.
Plenty of people want both. If you already journal and it is working, the honest recommendation is to keep journalling and add a coach for the decisions you keep circling.
Where our comparison has to stop
Reflectly does not publish prices on its own site, so the figures you can verify come from its App Store listing, which lists Premium purchases without stating what period each one covers. We are not going to translate those into a monthly price, because that would be a guess dressed up as a fact.
The same applies to whether you can start without an account and whether the app carries memory across sessions: neither is stated on the pages we checked, so this page says nothing is stated, rather than filling the gap.
Avenn publishes its prices. Your first week is unlimited. After that the free plan gives you one full coaching session a day with unlimited messages inside it, and Pro is $14.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
One thing worth checking yourself
Reflectly describes itself as a personal mental health companion. We could not find a matching limitation anywhere on its site or terms: no statement that it is not therapy, not a medical service, or not for emergencies. That may exist somewhere we did not look, and a site can change the day after we check it, so read the current pages before you decide.
We flag it because it is the one thing that genuinely matters when a tool sits near mental health. Avenn says its limits in the product, not only in the legal pages: coaching support, no diagnosis, not a crisis service, with a handoff to real crisis lines when it is warranted.
When Reflectly is the better pick
If you want to write rather than talk, Reflectly is built for that and Avenn is not. Some people think best on a page and get nothing from a conversation, and a coaching product will not convert them.
If mood tracking over time is the feature you actually want, with a record you can scroll back through, a journalling app is the right shape for it.
If you want a native mobile app with offline entries, Reflectly ships on iOS and Android. Avenn runs in any browser, and the iOS app is still in progress.
And if what you need is treatment rather than reflection or coaching, neither is the answer. Talk therapy is delivered by a licensed mental health professional, which is a category neither of these products is in.
